In 2017, we designed and delivered a complete staff wardrobe for The Television Centre in White City, London, as part of its redevelopment from a BBC broadcasting hub into a private residential complex. With over 120 staff across roles such as reception, housekeeping, maintenance, landscaping, and security, the uniforms were designed to combine functionality with professional presentation.

Design Approach

The uniform styles were inspired by the 1950s post-war modernist era, reflecting the building’s heritage. For men, we created classic suiting, while women’s uniforms included pencil dresses, skirts, and peplum jackets. The designs used a colour palette of charcoal, beige, and madder red, with windowpane check patterns added to distinguish management roles.

Practicality and Presentation

As a residential development, the uniforms needed to balance a welcoming and approachable appearance with the professionalism required in premium environments. The collection was designed to suit the working and hands-on nature of the various staff roles while maintaining a cohesive and polished look.

The wardrobe included 38 unique styles and was designed and delivered on schedule in 2017.
