Rosewood London, a historical landmark in London, is housed in the expanded Pearl Assurance Building. This prestigious establishment, previously a Marriott hotel, marked the start of a new era for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.

With 400 staff members spanning front-of-house to back-of-house, including roles such as maintenance, housekeeping, the Scarfe Bar, the Mirror Room, reception, concierge, and gatekeeping, Rosewood London embodies classic hospitality excellence. Additionally, the critically renowned Holborn Dining Room, with its extra 90 dedicated staff members, has maintained a timeless yet unique brand fit through its uniforms for now more than 12 years.

Our brief was to design a wardrobe that would encapsulate the essence of a London manor house, integrating traditional British eccentric style with modern functionality. With this, we created looks such as a classic Crombie coat for the doorman, a trench coat and shooting jacket with leather patches for the gatekeeper, and a classic English check country shirt. The butlers are dressed in grey check trousers, tartan waistcoats, and check shirts – a combination that, while unconventional on paper, perfectly suited Rosewood’s aesthetic and became a signature look for its global properties. For the Holborn Dining Room, inspired by its bold marble heavy interior, we transitioned from the initial 1920s workwear concept to a more elevated approach, featuring check-tartan trousers, velvet waistcoats, and denim evening shirts with knitted bow ties that match the energy of the space perfectly.

In the Mirror Room, an all-day dining space, we introduced dinner jackets with eccentric flares, binded details and continued the theme of check shirts and bow ties which are fluent throughout the hotel. Housekeeping staff wore modern-cut dresses made from the same bespoke check shirting fabric, blending style with practicality. Drawing detail inspirations from Savile Row, we focused on fabrics and textures, opting for polywool and durable materials to ensure longevity. This choice of materials proved effective, as evidenced by staff member Lucy, who has worn the same dress for eight years, showcasing the durability and craftsmanship of our designs.

Overall, our eclectic wardrobe designs brought a sophisticated yet functional elegance to the Rosewood London, reinforcing its reputation as a benchmark for luxury, style and effortlessly establishing a strong sense of place.
