In this project, we were tasked with designing and delivering a bespoke uniform collection for the Corinthia Hotel in London. The project encompassed the hotel’s main restaurant and the entire front-of-house team, including arrival, doormen, porters, concierge, and guest relations staff. Our goal was to create a uniform that aligned with the hotel’s identity as a “modern classic” establishment while ensuring a cohesive look across different departments.

For the restaurant, the design was inspired by British tailoring traditions. We selected a calming color palette consisting of sage green, various shades of green, grey, and white. These colors were carefully chosen to create a serene and elegant atmosphere in the dining area.

The men’s waistcoat was a particular focus, where we utilized different textures and cutting techniques to add depth to the green shades, giving a subtle yet sophisticated look. The overall design approach was to blend contemporary styling with the timeless elements of British tailoring.

Following the restaurant project, we extended our design to the front-of-house staff. The brief was to start with modern tailoring and adapt it to fit the classic London hotel aesthetic. The uniforms for the front office, arrival, doormen, porters, concierge, and guest relations staff were designed using navy and grey, complemented by waistcoats and traditional gold buttons.

Our approach involved using modern cuts to give these traditional elements a contemporary feel. This combination emphasized the distinguished service that is synonymous with a classic London hotel, while still resonating with the Corinthia’s modern outlook. The doormen’s uniforms, in particular, were designed to be classic and understated, in line with the hotel’s identity as a “modern classic” rather than an overly traditional establishment.

The women’s uniform collection drew inspiration from the 1960s, with influences from Chanel and Gucci, embodying a “Jackie Onassis” style. We used a palette of navy and pale blues to create a retro yet modern look, aligning with the overall theme of merging heritage with contemporary design. This collection was a clear expression of our signature style—bringing traditional British tailoring into a modern hotel environment, while still catering to the classic roles within a historic hotel setting.

All the uniforms were produced in the UK, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. The collection has remained in use at the Corinthia Hotel, with some updates made to the reception team’s uniforms in 2018/19 to keep the look fresh and aligned with current trends.

This project was a successful collaboration that resulted in a uniform collection that embodies the Corinthia Hotel’s unique blend of modernity and tradition. By drawing on British tailoring techniques and incorporating both classic and contemporary elements, we created a cohesive and enduring wardrobe that continues to serve the hotel’s distinguished staff today.
